Ten years of AuraSec GmbH. A success story.

Data protection and information security as a prerequisite for successful digitalization of the healthcare sector.
AuraSec GmbH is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. We would like to take this opportunity to take a brief look back at the history of the. The company was founded on September 4, 2013. This was preceded in 2011 by the successful establishment of an audit group for statutory health insurance companies in the parent company HBSN. In this respect, the audit group was initially a focus of activity. More and more consultancy contracts were won in the area of data protection and information security, so that consultancy became another mainstay alongside the pure auditing business.

Due to the increasing importance of data protection and information security in medical care, the customer portfolio was expanded to include clinics and hospitals from 2015 and, in this context, the University Hospital Aachen was acquired as the first client for the development of an information security management system (ISMS). In the course of the Kritis regulation and the IT Security Act, numerous additional clients in the areas of statutory health insurance, medical care, the pharmaceutical industry and trade as well as laboratories were acquired from 2017 onwards and market leadership was achieved.

Another milestone in this context was the accreditation with the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) as a test center for Kritis verification procedures in accordance with Section 8a (3) of the BSI Act. We are now known and respected as an established audit firm in the critical infrastructure sector.

In order to work on projects in a more interdisciplinary and holistic manner in future, and to meet the issues and challenges of the modern healthcare market individually for our customers, the HBSN Group has decided to organize the product and service portfolios, which were previously mapped via the various subsidiaries, via service lines in future. A service line is responsible for a very specific service/portfolio area and makes its specialist expertise available across the Group. This service-oriented company organization enables us to offer our customers everything along the entire value chain from a single source and to access the expert knowledge of the respective specialist service line.
